Tunnelling is now complete on the Eglinton Crosstown West Extension, another major milestone in our nearly $70 billion plan to build public transit across Ontario.
Construction on the extension is supporting 4,600 good-paying jobs every year. Once complete, it will extend Line 5 Eglinton by 9.2 kilometres, connect nearly 70,000 commuters to jobs and opportunities across the GTA and save passengers up to 24 minutes travelling between Yonge and Eglinton and Mississauga’s Square One.
That means thousands of workers earning a good paycheque building the transit Ontario needs, and thousands more people getting to work and back home to their families faster.
The extension will add seven new stations and connect riders with UP Express, GO Transit, the TTC and MiWay, creating nearly 30 kilometres of continuous rapid transit from Scarborough through Toronto to Mississauga.
It’s part of the largest subway expansion in Canadian history, including the Ontario Line, Scarborough Subway Extension and Yonge North Subway Extension.
